Overview 

The Vice President of Merchandising is a strategic leader responsible for driving sales and profitability through the development and execution of a comprehensive merchandising strategy. This role requires a deep understanding of the furniture industry, consumer trends, and market dynamics. The VP of Merchandising will oversee all aspects of the merchandising function, including product assortment, pricing, inventory management, and visual merchandising. 

Responsibilities 
  • Develop and execute a long-term merchandising strategy aligned with the company’s overall business objectives. 
  • Lead and manage the merchandising team, including hiring, training, and developing talent. 
  • Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and challenges. 
  • Develop and implement product assortments that meet customer needs and drive sales growth. 
  • Collaborate with the buying team to select and procure products that align with the merchandising strategy. 
  • Optimize inventory levels to maximize sales and minimize markdowns. 
  • Develop and execute pricing strategies to achieve target profit margins and drive sales. 
  • Oversee visual merchandising efforts to create a compelling and customer-centric shopping experience. 
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop and execute promotional activities. 
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure merchandising performance and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field. 
  • 10+ years of experience in merchandising, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in the furniture industry. 
  • Proven track record of driving sales and profitability through merchandising initiatives. 
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively. 
  • Proficiency in retail management software and data analysis tools. 

 Desired Skills 

  • Experience in e-commerce and omnichannel merchandising. 
  • Knowledge of supply chain management and logistics.
